Experiment description
This experiment demonstrates the determination of the charge to mass ratio of the electron. When only an electric field is applied, the electron beam deflects toward the positive plate. When only a magnetic field is applied, the beam deflects due to the Lorentz force. When both fields are applied and adjusted so that the beam passes undeviated, the charge to mass ratio of the electron can be calculated.
