Staining of nucleic acid by acetocarmine (Microscopic Examination of onion peel)

Experiment description

In this experiment, a thin peel is removed from the inner surface of an onion and placed on a glass slide. A drop of water and stain is added, and the peel is covered with a coverslip. The slide is observed under a microscope to study the rectangular onion cells, their cell walls, cytoplasm, nucleus, and large vacuole.
