Experiment description
We are going to perform a precipitation reaction between lead nitrate solution and potassium iodide solution. In this experiment, lead nitrate solution is taken in a test tube and potassium iodide solution is added to it. When both solutions are mixed, they react with each other and form a yellow precipitate of lead iodide. This yellow precipitate shows that a new substance has been formed and a chemical reaction has taken place. This reaction is also an example of a double displacement reaction because the ions of the two compounds exchange with each other.
