Experiment description

Explore the reflex arc through a 3D simulation that demonstrates the body's fast protective response. A reflex arc is a quick nerve pathway that helps protect the body from harm. When the skin detects heat or danger, sensory nerves send an electrical signal to the spinal cord. The spinal cord immediately sends a response through motor nerves to the muscles-without waiting for a decision from the brain. This causes a fast withdrawal movement. At the same time, the signal also travels to the brain so you become aware of the pain. This rapid response helps prevent injury in a fraction of a second.
