Effect of Color on Absorption and Retention of Heat

Effect of Color on Absorption and Retention of Heat

Experiment description

This experiment shows how colour affects heat absorption and heat loss. Two beakers, one black and one white, are filled with hot water and their temperatures are observed over time. The black beaker cools faster because it radiates heat more quickly, while the white beaker cools more slowly, showing that dark surfaces absorb and emit heat more than light surfaces.
