Detection of CO2 in Fermentation (Mixing sugar solution with yeast)

Detection of CO2 in Fermentation (Mixing sugar solution with yeast)

Experiment description

This experiment demonstrates that carbon dioxide is produced during fermentation. Yeast is added to a sugar solution, and the gas released is passed into fresh lime water. The lime water turns milky due to the formation of calcium carbonate, confirming the presence of CO2.
