Experiment description
This experiment demonstrates that a current-carrying straight wire produces a magnetic field, as shown by the deflection of a nearby compass needle. It also shows that the field forms concentric circles around the wire, becomes weaker with distance, and reverses direction when the direction of current is reversed.
