Effect of Steam on a Metal [Metals react with Water]

Effect of Steam on a Metal [Metals react with Water]

Experiment description

This experiment demonstrates the reaction of magnesium with steam. When magnesium is heated in the presence of water from wet cotton, it reacts to form magnesium hydroxide and releases hydrogen gas. The hydrogen gas is collected and produces a pop sound when tested with a burning matchstick, confirming its presence.
