Total Internal Reflection and critical angle

Total Internal Reflection and critical angle

Experiment description

This experiment demonstrates total internal reflection and the concept of critical angle. A laser beam is directed from water (denser medium) toward air (rarer medium), and the angle of incidence can be adjusted. For smaller angles, the light refracts out of the water, but when the angle reaches the critical angle, the beam reflects completely back into the water, showing total internal reflection.
