Experiment description
This experiment demonstrates fractional distillation, a method used to separate liquids with different boiling points. When the mixture is heated, the liquid with the lower boiling point evaporates first and passes through a fractionating column, which improves separation. The vapour then condenses and is collected separately, while the liquid with the higher boiling point remains until it also evaporates at a higher temperature. This process separates liquids based on their boiling points.
