Staining of nucleic acid by acetocarmine (Microscopic Examination)

Staining of nucleic acid by acetocarmine (Microscopic Examination)

Experiment description

In this experiment we are going to perform the staining of nucleic acids using acetocarmine. We will extract a thin epidermal peel from an onion, place it on a glass slide, and apply the acetocarmine stain. After preparing the temporary mount with a coverslip, we will observe the specimen under a microscope to clearly visualize the cell nuclei, which will appear as deep red structures due to the stained nucleic acids.
