Experiment description
In this experiment, we are going to perform the Dry Heating Test to preliminarily identify the cation present in an unknown salt sample. By heating a small amount of the dry salt in a test tube, we will look for distinctive color changes in the residue both while it is hot and after it cools down. These thermal color transitions provide quick clues about specific metal ions like zinc, copper, or cobalt which we will later confirm through wet tests.
