Experiment description
This experiment shows the structure of the vertebral column in right lateral view. The vertebral column, or spine, is made up of 26 bones called vertebrae arranged in a series. It extends from the base of the skull and forms the main support of the body. Each vertebra has a central canal that protects the spinal cord. The spine is divided into cervical, thoracic, lumbar, sacral, and coccygeal regions, and it supports the head, protects the spinal cord, and provides attachment for ribs and muscles.
